Two artists, two different ways of translating ordinary subjects into something extraordinary, quizzical, even confounding.
Makes you wonder what they had for breakfast.
KATHY
HORNSBY
photography
Kathy sees things that others don't. She skillfully captures the symmetrical twisting and weaving of vines, revealing dark crevices and brilliant light. Her vines teem with energy as they reach for the light.
In addition to what the camera captures, Kathy sometimes weaves strips of her photographs into a complex tapestry. Or she will back intricate cutouts of vines with richly colored handmade paper. Her collages turn a barren vine into a leaf-adorned mosaic. All are breath-taking.

CONNIE
DESAULNIERS
Connie's expressive, color-saturated painting styles change with her moods. They can be playful or earnest, but almost always a bit bizarro.
Techniques intertwine, just like soft clouds twisting around a glossy blue sky. Dimension is often created with an abundance of paint that is then scratched out in a pattern, revealing the underlying color. Her handmade frames often extend the aura of the painting. And sometimes, a sculpted object literally comes out of the canvas.
Frequently, nonsensical things happen. Why is an alligator on the back of a sculpture of a wren? Because the wren is 4 feet high and the alligator needs a ride.
New art is added frequently to Connie’s website. Please take a peek and return often.
